History of Seattle’s
The 1993 movie “Sleepless in
Seattle” inspired a well-known Seattle columnist, Erik Lacitis, to write a
series in the Seattle Times about being single in Seattle. This generated an overwhelming response, by
single people looking for new ways of getting together. Our first major event was a dance called
“Solo No More in 1994” with 1,000 singles attending. Seattle’s Sleepless has since become one of
the strongest and most successful non-profit singles organization in the
meetings are warm, fun and friendly. My calendar filled up quickly with many
a long time card player, I was excited to see opportunities for Pinochle and
love the theater. It was great to find opportunities to enjoy it with new
Happy Hours, Baseball games…talk about varied interests! Finding friends to
join in things I love to do is great.”
